We replaced a shattered flat roof window with a new unit, restoring natural light to the room. The replacement was carefully fitted and sealed for a neat, weatherproof finish.
The client returned from holiday to find that their existing flat roof window had shattered, leaving glass across the kitchen floor. They contacted Swiss Build to make the area safe and repair the damaged window. The failed window was not a VELUX product.
The client also explained that the kitchen became uncomfortably hot in sunny weather. Their existing roof windows did not open and had no blinds to reduce direct sunlight. As well as dealing with the broken window, they wanted us to explore options for better ventilation and control over the heat and glare in the kitchen.
The client’s existing flat roof window had shattered, leaving broken glass in the kitchen. We assessed the damage and roof opening, safely removed the failed window, and arranged a HIAB lift to get the replacement windows onto the roof. We fitted the new VELUX units and made the roof watertight. We also discussed opening windows and blinds to help address the client’s concerns about heat, glare and ventilation.

Lifting the New Windows onto the Roof
The new windows needed to be lifted safely into place. We arranged a HIAB to raise them onto the roof, avoiding the risks of lifting them by hand.
Making the Roof Watertight
With the old window removed, the roof opening was exposed to the weather. We fitted and sealed the new windows carefully to leave the roof watertight.
