Swiss Build recognises that construction activities can have an impact on the environment. We are committed to conducting our operations in an environmentally responsible manner and to reducing the environmental impact of our activities wherever reasonably practicable.

We are committed to:

  • Preventing pollution

Environmental protection is a shared responsibility. All employees and subcontractors are required to support and comply with this policy.

2. Responsibilities

2.1 Company Responsibility

Neil Cassidy has overall responsibility for environmental management within Swiss Build.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation

  • Allocating adequate resources for environmental protection

  • Monitoring environmental performance

  • Reviewing this policy annually


2.2 Site Supervisors

Site supervisors are responsible for:

  • Implementing environmental controls on site

  • Ensuring proper waste segregation

  • Preventing pollution incidents

  • Monitoring fuel and material storage

  • Ensuring subcontractor compliance


2.3 Employees & Subcontractors

All workers must:

  • Follow environmental procedures

  • Dispose of waste correctly

  • Report environmental hazards or spills immediately

  • Avoid unnecessary waste of materials

  • Minimise noise, dust and disruption

Failure to comply may result in removal from site.


3. Environmental Arrangements

3.1 Waste Management

Swiss Build applies the waste hierarchy (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in all construction activities.

We will:

  • Segregate waste on site where practicable

  • Use licensed waste disposal facilities

  • Retain waste transfer notes in accordance with legal requirements

  • Avoid unnecessary packaging and material waste

  • Ensure hazardous waste is handled and disposed of lawfully

Swiss Build holds a valid Waste Carrier Licence issued by the local authority, permitting the lawful transport of construction and demolition waste. Waste is transported and disposed of in accordance with current environmental legislation.

3.2 Pollution Prevention

We will take steps to prevent:

  • Oil or fuel spills

  • Contamination of land or watercourses

  • Dust emissions

  • Uncontrolled discharge of materials

Fuel, oils and chemicals will be stored safely and securely.

Spill kits will be available where required.


3.3 Energy & Resource Efficiency

Swiss Build aims to:

  • Reduce fuel consumption

  • Maintain vehicles and plant for efficiency

  • Minimise unnecessary engine idling

  • Use energy-efficient tools and equipment

  • Reduce paper usage where possible


3.4 Materials & Procurement

Where reasonably practicable, we will:

  • Source materials responsibly

  • Avoid materials with high environmental impact

  • Use sustainable timber products where applicable

  • Reduce waste through accurate ordering


3.5 Noise & Dust Control

We will:

  • Limit noisy works to appropriate hours

  • Maintain equipment to reduce emissions

  • Use dust suppression methods where required

  • Protect neighbouring properties and public areas


3.6 Biodiversity & Local Environment

Where applicable, we will:

  • Protect trees and vegetation

  • Avoid unnecessary disturbance to wildlife

  • Respect protected areas and species


4. Monitoring & Review

Swiss Build will:

  • Monitor environmental performance

  • Investigate environmental incidents

  • Take corrective action where required

  • Review this policy annually or following significant change
